Ladybird came home to Skyfire in the fall of 1995. My husband told me "well it took you seven years but you finally got it right!". You see although Ladybird was the third Lab I'd brought home she was the first black (both Mocha & Toska are chocolate) and John is very much of the old hunter school - The only true Lab is a Black Lab. We just smile and ignore him alot :)

Ladybird was unlucky to be born just after the standard changed. She was at the bottom end of the standard and judges just were not willing to risk putting her up or wicketing her to see if she made the height DQ. In todays ring Ladybird would have easily finished her title as she was so deserving of.
Ladybird was the type of bitch that one one of her rare forrays into Canada my then six year old daughter Jessica showed a totally bald Ladybird to 1st in her Jr's class as well as a nice win in Open Black and a Reserve Winners Bitch at the Auld Lang Syne shows.
Ladybird produced some spectacular puppies for us! See Bird kids Cameo, Chaos, Paige, Ellie, Willow and Dakota. Now we are carrying on with Bird grand kids, great grand kids and I think even great-great grandkids. She was a one of a kind!
