Welcome to Skyfire Labradors

Hi!  I’m Stephanie Harris.  Skyfire Labradors is my dream, passion, and occasionally madness.  We are a long‑established English Labrador breeder located in Ellensburg, Washington. Since our beginning in 1990, we have dedicated ourselves to producing healthy, well‑structured, and versatile Labradors with excellent temperaments. What began with our first Labrador—brought home as a family companion and hunting dog—quickly grew into a lifelong passion for the breed.

Although I no longer hunt, and have chosen to focus my energies in the confromation ring, natural retrieving instinct, trainability, and correct Labrador temperment remain essential foundational beliefs and are fundamental to every decision I make when breeding and retaining puppies.

Every Skyfire Labrador reflects the traits English Labradors are known for, kindness, intelligence, willingness, and that sweet, goofy, silliness that make the Labrador Retriever one of the most beloved and versatile breeds in the world.

Skyfire Breeding Philosophy

For more than three decades, Skyfire Labradors has focused on breeding sound, correct English Labradors in all three colors with:

  • Correct Labrador Type and conformation
  • Calm, stable, loving temperaments suited for family life
  • Strong champion and grand champion pedigrees
  • OFA‑tested hips, elbows, and cardiac health
  • Full genetic screening
  • Natural working ability and retrieving desire

We breed selectively and purposefully, always placing quality above quantity. Every litter is researched with long‑term goals in mind—to preserve the traits that make Labradors exceptional both in the show ring and as family companions.

My Experience & AKC Judging Background

In 2018, I was honored to be approved by the American Kennel Club (AKC) to judge Labrador Retrievers. Since then, I have judged across the United States, in Canada and Brazil. This experience deepens my understanding of structure, movement, breed type, and consistency—knowledge that directly strengthens every decision I make as a breeder.

Having evaluated hundreds of Labradors in the ring, I bring a trained and objective eye to my breeding program, ensuring that every Skyfire litter reflects the breed standard and maintains the integrity of the Labrador breed.

Versatile, Well‑Rounded Labradors

While conformation is the primary focus of Skyfire Labradors, our dogs are truly versatile. Puppies from our breeding program have gone on to become:

  • Champions on three continents
  • Master Agility Champions
  • Senior & Master Hunters
  • Working Service Dogs with Canine Compaions for Independence, Summit Assistence Dogs, Search & Rescue organizations, Seizure alert dogs, and more
  • Therapy dogs working with youth at risk in the schools and private practice, Reading with Rover, and more
  • And most importantly, cherished family pets

These qualities reflect our goal as a reputable English Labrador breeder in Washington – to produce Labradors who excel in conformation, service work, therapy, performance and as beloved family companions. 

Raising Healthy, Well-Socialized Puppies

Every Skyfire puppy receives hands‑on care and thoughtful early development, including:

  • Daily handling and socialization
  • Introduction to household environments
  • Positive exposure to new textures, sounds, and challenges
  • Outdoor play when weather allows
  • A structured foundation that builds confidence

Our goal is to raise puppies who are healthy, mentally prepared, and ready to thrive in show homes, working roles, or loving families throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond.

    We love being part of each dog’s journey and enjoy receiving updates as they grow. Many of our puppy families keep in touch for years—and return for their next Labrador in future years.
